I was appointed to a Consultant post in Harrogate in 1999 and subsequently in Rotherham in 2000. I have since then undertaken medico-legal work (child protection in the NHS and personal injury claims privately) on a regular basis. I have attended Medico-legal report writing and Giving expert evidence courses in Manchester in 2002 I am able to provide medico-legal reports as per my terms and conditions to which this CV is attached. I have experience of attending court to give evidence as a professional and an expert witness though I do not seek to offer these services unless the court requires me to do so. Ethnic minorities • During my Bradford and Rotherham appointments, I achieved considerable experience in the management of clinical conditions more commonly seen in the ethnic minorities such as iron deficiency anaemia, rickets, neurodegenerative illnesses, genetic and metabolic disorders. • My basic paediatric training in India gave me a sound basis for understanding and managing clinical conditions in the ethnic minority population. • Fluent in Urdu which is understood by most people from the Indian subcontinent. MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE • Lead Consultant in Neurodisability and CDC management in Rotherham • Successfully conducted an Education and Training Visit by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in October 1999. • Completed a Management Course for New Consultants run by the Yorkshire Deanery. • I was the Harrogate CONI (Care of the next infant) co-ordinator since my appointment as a Consultant. • Actively involved in managing the Middle Grade and SHO rotas and organising teaching sessions in my various appointments. • Attended the Children’s Services Group Meeting monthly in Bradford. (The Children’s Services Group was a multidisciplinary forum chaired by the Head of Service where important issues affecting Children’s Services were discussed) • I attended the ‘Management course for Senior Registrars’ (Professional Education Program) run by the Yorkshire Deanery which was a timely course as it provided a theoretical framework for the Children’s Services Group Meeting. CHILD PROTECTION EXPERIENCE • Currently on the child protection on call rota and actively involved in carrying out medical examinations, writing medical reports and police statements and attending case conferences. • On the Child Protection Rota as a Senior Registrar in Bradford and directly involved in Child Protection in its broadest sense, including sexual abuse. • As a Registrar in Accident and Emergency at the Sheffield Children’s Hospital, I got the opportunity to see children with accidental and non- accidental injuries, prepare medical reports and attend case conferences. I benefited greatly from this experience as it consolidated my knowledge, made me question my practice and critically review the literature. • After attending workshops on presentation and teaching skills, I feel I have become a more effective teacher.
