Accident and Emergency
I have more than ten years Clinical experience in Accident and Emergency Medicine in total.. I have also. I have been in a substantive Consultant post since 1996. I am the lead clinician in my present job. I spend a significant part of my working week in front line patient care. My interests include the management of minor and major injuries. I also provide ward care for patients with head injuries, chest injuries, neck, back or limb injuries. My special interest in Hand Surgery means that I run the only hand clinic and hand operation service in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead. I am in charge of a large team of doctors and nurses. I play a leading role in departmental management and also in teaching and training activities. On a wider scale I am the Programme Director for A&E Medicine responsible for supervising the training of 19 Specialist Registrars in The Northern Deanery.
I have published regularly in leading journals relevant to emergency medicine and trauma and also presented at conferences.
